Spanish Wine Week 2017

Spanish Wine Week 2017 - 23rd - 30th April

After the success of the launch last year, the Spanish Commercial Office in Dublin will be running Ireland’s Spanish Wine Week again this year. The event is a weeklong celebration of Spanish wine across retailers and restaurants in Ireland’s key cities.

Throughout the week, tastings, masterclasses, events, and promotions to celebrate Spanish wine take place at key on- and off-trade outlets.

We will be working with the Spanish Commercial Office to position Rioja as part of this activity, as Spain’s flagship wine region.

Dates: 24-30 April

Rioja activities

Tapas Trail

We will be working with the Spanish Commercial Office, Ireland’s leading food and drink magazine – Thetaste.ie – and well known wine writer Gaby Guedez to lead a group of 15 consumers on a Tapas Trail through Dublin, visiting three top restaurants, including Salamanca, Balfes and 37 Dawson Street, and tasting a different tapas dish and Rioja wine in each, echoing the tapas trail through Calle Laurel. Rioja Dinner

In the last couple of years, Ireland has seen a surge of high quality restaurant openings and we plan to work with Brioche in Dublin to host a special dinner matching dishes to a selection of Rioja wines. This will showcase the diversity of the region’s wines, and highlight their food-friendliness.

The dinner will be hosted by a key Irish wine critic during Spanish Wine Week and will be open to around 40 consumers, with a VIP table set aside for 10-12 members of the Irish trade and press.

Rioja tasting

Popular wine merchant, Galway, Woodberry wines, is also getting involved and hosting an in-store Rioja wine tasting.
