Sponsored by the Consejo Regulador de la Denominación de Origen Rioja, the European Wine Bloggers Conference (EWBC) – an association of wine journalists and opinion leaders with an active presence on social media – will hold its next annual meeting in Rioja from 25th-27th October 2013.
The sponsorship is part of the Consejo’s communication strategy to promote its international social media presence.
The conference will focus on the opportunities for the wine industry in the digital domain, with various presentations and masterclasses running across the two days. The Consejo will present its social networking strategy which is underway in various markets’ campaigns including Spain, USA, Mexico, China, UK, Germany and Switzerland.
Headed by Opaz Ryan, Co-Founder of Catavino.net, this well established annual event is expected to draw around 300 attendees from 40 countries, including key journalists, opinion leaders, Masters of Wine, retailers, importers and winemakers. All attendees are active communicators in the digital domain and therefore capable of influencing wine consumers. Among those who have confirmed their attendance are Julia Harding MW, Editor at JancisRobinson.com, Tim Hanni, Wine Educator and Chef, and Doug Frost, Sommelier, Writer and Educator. In addition to seminars and presentations, the conference programme will also include workshops by additional sponsors, sessions on technology development and visits to wineries and local attractions in the Rioja region.
