The Easter weekend is the perfect opportunity to catch up with family and friends over a lovely long lunch. If it’s your turn to host, we’ve got a delicious selection of dishes to help you make your Easter extra special, not forgetting some great Rioja wines to match too!

 

 

No dish says Easter Sunday lunch like a lovely cut of seasonal Lamb, and the team at Delicious magazine have created a slow cooked recipe for a Shoulder of Lamb. Marinated with spicy chilli jam and fragrant rosemary, the spicy flavours are the perfect match for an unoaked, fruit-driven Joven wine from Rioja.

 

 

If you’re enjoying a smaller celebration this Easter, try this Spiced Lamb meal for two from the foodie experts at Olive magazine as an alternative. Ready in just 20 minutes, this quick and easy dish is packed with flavour with tenderstem broccoli, crunchy pine nuts, sweet raisins and a citrussy lemon and shallot dressing. Try this with a full bodied glass of Rioja Reserva – this style of wine tends to spend approximately three years in oak giving it a slight smoky flavour, ideal for matching with the spices in this dish.

 

 

Now let’s talk about the sides…if you’re looking for a crowd pleaser, this Fennel and Potato Gratin from BBC Food is a must. Oozing with rich parmesan cheese, this hearty recipe is an ideal food pairing to a crisp unoaked white Rioja made from the Viura grape, or a Rioja rosé brimming with red berry flavours.

 

 

For another seasonal side dish, try this chargrilled chicory with pomegranate molasses from Delicious magazine. It's simple to make and can be eaten warm or at room temperature, paired to a creamy oaked white Rioja.
